Round up. Vomity nervous about tomorrow.

Filed under: Politics (sorry), stuff, VeloFietsen — groenefee @ 11:12 am

Right BWers, I’m in all flavours of fidget currently. I’m at work and wanting to heave thinking about the impending election. I thought I’d offer some general summary points to facilitate distracting conversation.

Wheel Building is a riot! I’m 5 Wheels in and so very proud of the results. They look cool as skool and I’m not posting pictures, as I’d like you to be gobsmacked with their beauty in person. I should say that the DA hubs inside Swiss DT rims with Schwalbe Ultremo tyres are freaking light and fast looking. Would love to build up a set of dick-around tubulars for shits and giggles. J if you run into those GP4s grab em. I wish that I had a slightly higher cash flow as I’d love to give wheels as x-mas presents.

There is a bar nearby that is wonderful. Come here to experience. Properly served Groenefee and serious bier list.

Weather…oh, my lord the weather…that leads me to talk about…

Trixie. I repaired her wheels and put a new chain on her with skin wall 40-635’s and my gad, I forgot how much I loved her!

Have you seen Control yet? damn fine film…follow it with Festival.

Got the new Bloc Party…no reasoned opinion yet.

Grass-fed local pork brats are soooooooooooooooooo wonderful! We’re in piggy heaven.

A policy recommendation from the Economic Policy Institute that makes good sense. I’d forward it to everyone you vote for ASAP.

If my fellow taxpayers and I are being asked to spend half a TRILLION dollars, shouldn’t we be voting on it?

Collecting the AIG detritus

Filed under: Politics (sorry), stuff — groenefee @ 9:49 am

Considering that over the last two days I’ve had VERY mixed feelings about the government’s buy-out of AIG, that J has been twittering on it and T just sent this.

I thought I’d post here and solicit the general temperature of the water. Are we:

Experiencing the largest prop-up of criminally poor financial judgement?
Seeing a government taking drastic measures to stem, stop, or cover-up and pray about a much more devastating financial collapse? Indicated here.
Seeing a potent reminder of why the majority of citizens shouldn’t have their retirements amassed in anything but guaranteed return programs?
I have no idea how to feel about this right now.

Usually Pith and an Augument ad Absurdum re: #, but worth it this time for the perspectives

a google…

According to Think Progress, if the conservatives have their way, our next president will have never sent an email for himself or gone on “a google.”

“Teacher, can I borrow the gun?”

Filed under: Politics (sorry), stuff, Texas — groenefee @ 7:24 am

Another stroke of rootin’ tootin’ inbred foolishness outta rural TX.

The NYT reports today about a “school board in this impoverished rural hamlet in North Texas” that allows teachers to concealed carry to school.

Favorite bit?

In the center of the storm is Mr. Thweatt, a man who describes himself as “a contingency planner,” who believes Americans should be less afraid of protecting themselves and who thinks signs at schools saying “gun-free zone” make them targets for armed attacks. “That’s like saying sic ’em to a dog,” he said.
