Note first link repaired and the "reverse" ad is up. The Landis spot really hits home.

Well, the ride yesterday was amazing! The top three things I learned are listed below...

1. Cotton works great for riding through the wind next to the lake. Thanks, A! (There is a part of the lake front path that makes my heart sink...and I am not really sure why, but I feel like I am riding through molasses for four miles. The cotton helps!)

2. I like riding- A LOT! There is a huge difference in riding on the path/downtown and riding on seldom used path. I find my mind gets tired from paying attention to unknowns (car doors, walkers, runners, roller bladers, other people)--having to make split second decisions constantly--much faster than my body gets tired from riding. Making the distinction between mind weariness and body weariness is a big deal for me. Once I can categorize and define the problem I can fight it more. So, that is a plus.

3. I think I understand the biking belly thing more--I should share meals rather than gorge myself. After the amazing food at Chicago Diner, I got a little loopy-all blood in the belly-and paying attention to the Chi streets made it difficult to put much effort into biking fast. So, I figure smaller meals (A-we could split) or I can just pick the scraps off everybody else's plate (if no stabbing forks threaten me) or drink most my meals.

At any rate, I don't think I am well trained or anything like that, but I am fairly confident that I will be able ride along and not be dead weight for ya'll.

Looking forward to all riding together!

Blueberries and biking? Damn, wish family K was there too. I am picking up the CSA fruit and we would have plenty to add to the food table.

BTW: feeling great from the ride yesterday!

Yeah, I have doing the "hey look I have crabs on my ass" thing probably a wee bit too much.

The ride has inspired a shift in the K bike situation as well. We're now lookin at passing the Schwinn down to E (her check-out ride yesterday was inspiring for future group riding) and building/buying A something else. Lots of ideas afoot. Waffling between a used newer ride and strapping new drive train (veloce?) and wheelset to solid (flatblacked of course, this is A) older steel.

Good luck on the scouting tomorrow. I know I don't have to tell you to make mental note of Old Style sign bearing establishments.

First KUDOS to both K. A half century is a realy good measure of how you'll ride a full one.

Not sure how I feel about lots of scorpion logos hanging out en route.

My I day ride was dutch, 4 K with a case of Point returnables.

Tomorrow is officially my scouting run on our proposed 100 route

Well done to A. but we all knew she's a scrapper.

Ha! Reading Bidon for Bidet is quite different I'd say. Which would be worse though? A Bidon full of processed cheese or a bidet full of processed cheese? You be the judge.
