I laughed shamefully at this video. I love Sarah Silverman… and Perry Ferrell(??).

Why is google books featuring this book? It must be good or something.
From the new place! We moved a load of stuff down last night and spent the night here. I think that may mark the end of the habitation of the Nip, er Whipple habitation.
Here is a link I emailed El today. Maybe she’ll read it, maybe not, I just like encouraging some girl power every once in a while.

I can’t believe we haven’t plugged our favorite new person yet. Eyewear is a scam, and getting glasses online is the most wonderful thing ever. Mr. Glassy Eyes knows this well…
Anybody ever hear of the Swedish, I repeat, Swedish, musician José González? Seems like we have some potential here for new sound.

So I am hunting around for some HP bloggers to see what’s shakin in our new hood. I found this interesting list of opinions gleaned from people being interviewed to figure out how one can market to HPers:
“I like Hyde Park because it’s not commercialized. I don’t want a Home Depot on my block. I don’t want a GAP. There are lots of little shoe repair places that have been here forever.”
“I like Hyde Park because other people don’t come here. I don’t want to share my neighborhood with everybody else.”
“I don’t need much night life, because I’d rather stay in, or have dinner with friends.”
“The Point controversy showed how the community is involved and really comes together about what it cares about.”
I sorta knew these kind of opinions represented a typical HP stand, but it’s good to read them. I can certainly stand living around a bunch of people who tend to think like that. Now to sort out this “no Trader Joes” issue…
I want to go on record that “food” might not be the best category for this post. Maybe “industrial waste”. Oh, and I have to apologize for following QG’s good news with something this terrible. (By the way, although I’m sad to hear of the loss, way to go, QG!) S and I keep getting closer and closer to a no-meat diet as we consider the ramifications of an industrial system that yields episodes such as this one. I haven’t watched the video of the cows yet, but maybe I should. I have a responsibility to see the full impact of my choice to eat meat, right? Fast Food Nation keeps coming to mind…
